Heartbreak on Coronation Street as Summer fights for survival! Will she make it?
**Summer Fights for Her Life | Coronation Street**
*The mystery surrounding Theo Silverton’s death takes a tragic turn next week on Coronation Street, leaving one resident fighting for survival while another descends into a terrifying mental health crisis.*
Weatherfield is set to be rocked by a series of devastating events next week, as schedule changes for ITV’s World Cup coverage push the soap’s high-stakes drama into a special Sunday slot on June 7th. At the heart of the turmoil is Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby), whose desperation to escape the grim reality of prison leads her to make a catastrophic decision that leaves her life hanging in the balance.
The drama begins when Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) receives a frantic phone call from the prison, revealing that Summer has been rushed to the hospital. Upon arriving, a horrified Todd listens as a tearful Summer confesses she deliberately turned off her insulin pump. Unable to cope with incarceration, she chose to poison her own body rather than remain behind bars. As friends Asha Alahan and Nina Lucas visit her bedside, Summer sobbed that she is simply too terrified to go back.
However, Summer’s desperate act triggers a chain reaction of suspicion. Newly arrived detective DC Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) is convinced she is taking the fall for someone else. Kit’s focus quickly shifts to Gary Windass (Mikey North) after questioning him about Todd’s missing phone. Detecting Gary’s evasiveness, Kit declares him his number one suspect to DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers). As the police pressure intensifies, Gary’s increasingly erratic behavior strains his marriage to Maria (Samia Longchambon), who confides in Shona Platt that her marriage is crumbling. When the police suddenly demand Maria review her original statement, a panicked Gary realizes the net is closing in.

But Gary isn’t the only one harboring a dark secret. Plagued by guilt over Summer’s medical emergency, Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) finally cracks. In a tense confrontation, Tyrone confesses to Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) that he knows Summer is innocent. Tyrone reveals he witnessed the events of the night Theo died; he caught Carl Webster tampering with Kevin’s brakes and filmed it. During a physical struggle, Tyrone accidentally knocked over a carjack, causing the vehicle to crush Carl. Now holding the incriminating footage, Tyrone faces a terrible choice: hand the video to the police and risk his own freedom, or let Summer suffer.
Meanwhile, a heartbreaking mental health storyline takes center stage as young Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan) reaches a dangerous breaking point. Struggling with the psychological fallout of the tension surrounding grooming victim Will Driscoll, Sam begins experiencing severe psychosis. The youngster starts hallucinating a sinister, aggressive version of Roy Cropper (David Neilson), who repeatedly demands Sam use violence to “eliminate” Will.
This terrifying delusion culminates in a high-stakes siege at Roy’s Rolls. Terrified by his visions, Sam locks himself inside the cafe with the real, oblivious Roy. Outside, a frantic Nick Tilsley (Ben Price), Leanne Battersby, and Toyah Habeeb desperately plead with Sam to open the door. Actor Ben Price teased the intensity of the scenes, noting that Nick is forced to witness a “completely different, alarming side” to his son as Sam’s grip on reality shatters.
Though Sam eventually escapes the cafe, he vanishes into the precinct, sparking a frantic search. It is Carla Connor who eventually finds him, recognizing the signs of psychosis from her own past struggles.

With lives on the line and secrets unraveling, Weatherfield will never be the same.
*Coronation Street continues Sunday, June 7th at 8:30 p.m. on ITV1 and ITVX.*
