In upcoming scenes, viewers will be left heartbroken for Charity Dingle who is struggling after Dr Todd sexually assaulted her in harrowing scenes.

Meanwhile, one Emmerdale character’s return has been teased as Lewis Barton finds himself in danger in the village. Here’s a look at the storylines next week…

Emmerdale spoilers have revealed what happens next to Charity and it’s absolutely heartbreaking. For weeks, Charity has been subjected to blackmail by villainous Dr Caitlin Todd after she uncovered that Charity and Ross Barton are the biological parents of baby Leyla.

Charity had served as a surrogate for her granddaughter Sarah Sugden and her husband Jacob Gallagher. Sarah and Jacob believe baby Leyla is biologically their child but in reality Charity and Ross are the biological parents.

Armed with this knowledge, Dr Todd has demanded an eye-watering £100,000, plunging Charity into utter desperation. The situation then took a deeply troubling turn when Dr Todd sexually assaulted Charity in Sunday’s episode.

During Monday’s episode, Charity courageously reported Dr Todd and the attack to the police, where soap viewers recognised DS Reid actress Angela Lonsdale.

And now spoilers for next week reveal what unfolds next. In forthcoming scenes, doctor Manpreet Sharma checks on Charity, who falsely claims her breakdown is postnatal depression.

Manpreet prescribes medication and leaves Charity feeling completely isolated in her fresh deception as she battles to confide in her loved ones about what occurred.

When Mack Boyd returns, Charity is distressed to discover he has informed Sarah about her struggles, and once alone, she washes some sleeping pills down with wine. Upon discovering her grandmother’s difficulties, Sarah is consumed by guilt, attributing Charity’s presumed postnatal depression to her role as a surrogate.

Sarah’s curiosity is piqued when Charity hints that there is “more going on”. Nonetheless, Charity persists in deceiving her family, attributing her struggles to postnatal depression and sleep deprivation. Meanwhile, Mack finds himself comforting a tearful Sarah, who blames the surrogacy for all of Charity’s emotional turmoil.

In the forthcoming weeks, Charity will grapple with the aftermath of the attack, torn between confiding in her loved ones or suppressing her trauma.

Meanwhile in Emmerdale, only recently it was revealed that Chris Coghill is set to reprise the role of the charismatic Kev Townsend later this year. Soap watchers will recall that Lewis Barton is Kev’s son.

In upcoming scenes next week, Lewis finds himself in danger – could this tie into Kev’s return? In the spoilers, Vinny Dingle surprises Lewis with a spontaneous trip to Madeira but soon Lewis’ anxiety with the spontaneity of the trip causes him to pull out of the holiday.

Lewis insists Vinny still goes on the holiday, leaving Lewis feeling bittersweet. However, after some encouraging words from Ross, Lewis decides he will go on the holiday after all and rushes to catch Vinny up at the airport.
