The youngster was discovered by Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough), who encouraged Kyle to pursue a fresh purpose in life and enrolled him in the cadets.
On Monday (June 15), Kyle was thrilled as his father turned up to observe him at the swearing-in ceremony; nevertheless, mere moments afterwards, Cain hastily vanished following a toileting incident after his surgery to eliminate the cancer.
Once the proceedings had concluded, Kyle was met by his commander outside the village hall, with Graham also expressing his admiration for the lad. Cain subsequently returned and was compelled to confess to his bathroom mishap, leaving the garage owner feeling mortified.
Emmerdale audiences might recognise the Cadet Commander, portrayed by James McGregor, who has previously appeared in the ITV drama alongside other well-known programmes.

In 2025, McGregor depicted police officer Matteo Carmichael in EastEnders across two episodes. In one particular scene, he turns up at the Queen Vic to inform new landlord Kat Moon (Jessie Wallace) that her gathering is causing a disturbance for local residents, reports the Express.
The situation rapidly intensified when Mo Harris (Laila Morse) drunkenly delivers a flirtatious innuendo to the uniformed police officer who detains her for being drunk and disorderly.
McGregor has also appeared as Mr Rudd in Call the Midwife, in series 14, episode 2. The period drama instalment saw Dr Turner (Stephen McGann) charged with tracing the origin of sexually transmitted infections during a Poplar outbreak.
