Emmerdale shocker: You won’t believe which beloved couple Kev is about to tear apart!
Emmerdale spoilers follow.
There’s trouble ahead for Emmerdale couple Lewis Barton and Vinny Dingle, as they’re in danger of hitting the rocks later this year. The question remains – what could possibly cause a rupture in their bond?
With rumours swirling that Vinny is being written out of the ITV soap, we can exclusively reveal that his traumatic past will be revisited, as he struggles to get along with Lewis’s long-lost dad, Kev Townsend.

With this having the potential to drive a wedge between Vinny and Lewis, Emmerdale producer Laura Shaw teases: “What we need to remember is the relationship that Vinny had with his own father, Paul, who was quite abusive.”
“It brings a lot back for Vinny because Kev is slightly wild, edgy and can be unpredictable,” she continues. “Vinny’s quite nervous about Lewis having a relationship with Kev, because he reminds him of Paul.”
Kev originally arrived in the village as the prison husband of Robert Sugden, and intended to keep him away from Aaron Dingle. Yet, Kev’s villainous side was soon levelled out by his love of baking and humorous lines, making him a fan-favourite.
Although he left the village in January, he will be returning to the Dales soon to open a new business venture and to connect with his son. It seems he will start a new chapter in his life, but how will Vinny respond?

Fans of Robron, meanwhile, can breath a huge sigh of relief, as it has already been confirmed by Shaw that Kev won’t be bothering the happy couple upon his return to the village.

“When he comes back, he’s very much back for Lewis,” she says. “It’s going to be about building a father-and-son relationship between them, and building on the Barton family as well.”
“Robert and Aaron are happy, and Kev will kind of leave that alone. The door is closed between Robert and Kev, certainly for the foreseeable future,” adds the producer.
