Coronation Street and Emmerdale have scheduled in more hour-long episodes as the soaps face further disruption from sports coverage.
Last week, we brought you the news that both soaps had slotted in 60-minute editions for Friday 12 June, as the usual transmission pattern is torn up on a temporary basis due to FIFA World Cup 2026 coverage.
Now it’s been confirmed that the same tactic will be used beyond this, with the extended slots being used to make up for missed episodes elsewhere.

ITV’s newest schedules show that Emmerdale airs for an hour from 8pm on Monday 15 June. Corrie follows for an hour at 9pm that night.
It’s the same story on Tuesday 16 June, with a 60-minute Emmerdale at 8pm and a 60-minute Corrie at 9pm.
Sadly, fans will then have to cope without the ITV soaps for a couple of nights. There are no episodes airing on Wednesday 17 June, as ITV is showing the England vs Croatia game that evening. On Thursday 18 June, ITV broadcasts the Switzerland vs Bosnia & Herzegovina match, so there’s no room for the soaps then, either.
On Friday 19 June, it’s business as usual with Emmerdale at 8pm and Corrie at 8.30pm.

More changes are likely beyond this, but those schedules won’t be confirmed until nearer the time.
ITV addressed the Emmerdale and Corrie changes on social media this week, reminding fans they can watch early on ITVX and YouTube rather than chasing the shows around the linear schedules.
“There may be a little disruption to your soap schedule over the next few weeks, but don’t worry, we’ll keep you informed on when and where to find us,” the post read. “Remember, you can watch each episode from 7am on ITVX & YouTube!”
Changes begin from this Friday, although the World Cup itself doesn’t launch until 11 June.

ITV bosses had previously shifted Coronation Street and Emmerdale into using the 30-minute format permanently, after research showed that viewers preferred shorter “digestible” episodes.
This will remain the case in the longer-term, as the hour-long editions are a temporary measure during the World Cup.
