In 2024, Tom Selleck said goodbye to Frank Reagan, the character he brought to life on Blue Bloods for over a decade alongside Donnie Wahlberg, Will Estes, Bridget Moynahan and more. Since his time on the show came to an end, the actor has kept a low profile, having yet to take on his next project on the screen—but soon, that’s about to change.

Earlier in the year, it was announced that the 81-year-old television and film icon would be taking the lead on a brand new true crime series on The History Channel, Crime and Justice with Tom Selleck (working title). While this looks to be the only concrete project in his future for now, we’ve got a feeling there’s more to come. Here, we unpack what’s next for Tom Selleck as he begins his next chapter post-Blue Bloods.

In Crime and Justice with Tom Selleck, the actor will host and narrate the series, which dives into notorious crimes throughout history and the individuals in law enforcement who brought them to justice.

Selleck portrayed a police commissioner on television for years and has long had a deep admiration for men and women in law enforcement, but don’t expect to see another character like Frank on your screens in this series. “People ask, ‘What do you want to do next?’ I’m not sure,” he told Parade back in 2024. “I don’t want to do Frank Reagan II.”

In 2005, Selleck made his debut in the Jesse Stone films, where he played a detective who relocates from Los Angeles to Massachusetts, taking on a job as a police chief in a quiet town where crime and corruption lurks beneath the surface. The most recent film in the series, Jesse Stone: Lost in Paradise, debuted in 2015, and fans have been itching for a follow-up.

He touched on the possibility in conversation with Parade, saying, “I haven’t worked on it yet. It would be an interesting challenge because Jesse is older now. There’ve been quite a few years between shows. That doesn’t mean he isn’t a viable character. Everywhere I go one of the things I get asked is, ‘When can I see another Jesse Stone?’”

Though rumors have been floating around that a new film is in the works, the actor has yet to confirm anything.

In 2024, Selleck debuted his memoir, You Never Know, which chronicled some of the most pivotal moments of his career.

“Writing my memoir took four years, and it was very emotional for me. It was important that it was conversational,” the actor told Hour Detroit. As for whether a second volume could be on the way, Selleck said he isn’t sure. “It’s a lot of work, but there are a lot of stories left—I will say that.”

Whatever else might be next for the actor, we can’t wait to see him shine!
